INERTIA is LITE®'s flywheel platform for exercising against resistance generated by the inertia and kinetic energy of a spinning flywheel. INERTIA is composed of a rotational shaft, to which both a rope and a flywheel are attached. Once the rope is unrolled from the rotational shaft with a concentric action, the inertia and kinetic energy of the spinning flywheel cause the rope to roll up in the opposite direction, requiring the athlete to perform an eccentric action to decelerate the rope and begin a new exercise cycle. If the rope is decelerated in a shorter time than it is accelerated, muscles can be loaded eccentrically for higher training stimulus. INERTIA resistance increases with exercise speed, so it can be modulated during each rep and accommodate increasing fatigue. It is well suited to sport-specific movements that involve high deceleration forces. Key Features Speed-dependent variable resistance: with the same inertia, resistance varies with the speed of the exercise — the faster you pull, the greater the resistance. During the eccentric phase, INERTIA returns the energy you applied during the concentric phase, enabling eccentric overload.
